Southport profits from major conference events Jul 16, 2011 // Christian ReynoldsNo Comments »SOUTHPORT is celebrating two key conference events at the resort’s Theatre and Convention Centre .
It has just hosted the Methodist Conference, which made its first visit in more than 10 years and was one of the longest events the town has held, running from June 30 to July 7.
Around 1,400 people attended the opening weekend of the conference.
After its close the STCC team transformed the venue for the International Dance Teacher Association’s Annual Congress, which is taking place between July 9-12, featuring a series of dance competitions, lectures, workshops and an evening of cabaret with around 1,000 participants expected to attend.
Both events were secured by the town’s conference bureau, Southport Conferences.
Sefton council’s cabinet member for leisure, culture and tourism, Cllr Mike Booth, said: “They will generate a significant amount of revenue for the town and the borough.”
